The provider submitted learning plans for eight learners and a list of the additional 180 learners who engaged in the process. The provider's practice-based CME activity is designed to increase patient safety, improve practice performance, and to reduce medical liability risk. The activity included engagement by a risk manager with the learner through a several month process that included review and consultation with the learner, observation of the learner, discussion of suggested practice changes, and the provision of tools and strategies for improvement that addressed practice gaps to increase patient safety, strengthen processes, and enhance physician defensibly. As a follow-up, the risk manager returned for a re-visit where they assessed and discussed whether the physician(s) implemented previous risk management recommendations.
