High-Level Forum for International CME/CPD Accreditation Leaders
The International Academy for CPD Accreditation held its first face-to-face meeting in November in London. The meeting brought together participants representing Europe, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Hong Kong. Participants included CME/CPD accreditation system leaders as well as representatives from licensing authorities: the Federation of State Medical Boards of the US and the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada.
The goal of the meeting was to provide a high-level forum for CPD/CME accreditation system leaders from around the world to explore and learn from each other’s accreditation systems and to promote the integration of CME/CPD accreditation systems within systems for licensure and revalidation.
Kate Regnier MA, MBA, Deputy Chief Executive and COO, ACCME, facilitated a discussion where participants shared the structure of their CPD accreditation systems and brainstormed strategies to help one another address areas of common concern.
Murray Kopelow, MD, President and CEO, ACCME, facilitated a session exploring the advantages and disadvantages of developing a common framework for mutual recognition of CPD/CME accreditation systems around the world.
The international Academy for CPD accreditation was founded earlier this year by the ACCME and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Academy held its inaugural meeting via webinar in May.
