Murray Kopelow, MD, President and CEO, ACCME, gave a presentation at CPD for Doctors 2013– 2023, a joint conference held by BMJ and the Association for the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in London in June. Dr. Kopelow presented an overview of the scope and structure of the ACCME accreditation system and described how accredited CME supports continuing professional development and addresses public health imperatives in the US. He explained how the Accreditation Criteria facilitate physician learning and change and cited studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of CME in assisting physician performance improvement. He discussed how the Standards for Commercial SupportSM: Standards to Ensure Independence in CME Activities support the free flow of scientific exchange while safeguarding accredited CME from commercial influence. Dr. Kopelow also participated in a panel discussion about the future of CPD delivery in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Kopelow participated in the meeting as part of the ACCME’s commitment to supporting collaboration within the global CME community.
