ACCME Presentation Addresses CME's Alignment with QI, MOC

Kate Regnier, MA, MBA, Deputy Chief Executive and COO, ACCME, participated in a panel presentation at the Specialty Society-Board Summit on Lifelong Learning in October in Chicago. The summit was hosted by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS); both are ACCME member organizations. Ms. Regnier discussed the role of accredited CME in supporting physician practice improvement and lifelong learning and change. She described the scope of the ACCME accreditation system, the integration of CME with quality improvement, and how accredited CME supports interprofessional education. She explained how the ACCME Accreditation Criteria align with the goals of the ABMS Program for Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC®) and the value that accredited CME brings to MOC programs.
