The provider’s organizational structure has positioned CME to be a change agent within the organization. CME leaders of the institution have been strategically placed within key organizational groups that have as goals and work initiatives to improve physician’s professional practice. For example, CME is integrated with case management, performance improvement, and patient services. The provider has created a link from CME to all professional practice improvement activities through the nesting of CME within the organizational structure of all committees that address professional practice issues and representation on all primary clinical components of the institution.
