ACCME COMMENT IN SUPPORT OF CMS PROPOSED RULE TO ALLOW DATA SUBMISSION FOR IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a proposed rule, CMS-1770-P, that would allow CME accreditation organizations to serve as third-party intermediaries to submit data on improvement activities. The ACCME has submitted a comment in support of this rule, noting that we can provide verifiable information on clinicians who engage in accredited CME, thereby reducing reporting burdens on clinicians and allowing them to focus on improving patient care. We encourage the accredited education community to submit their comments in support of this proposed rule. The deadline for comments is Tuesday, September 6. ACCME’s comment is available to download here.
