A provider described collaboration with their emergency preparedness and education and program committees, and the local fire department to develop training sessions for learners to decontaminate patients exposed to hazards such as chemical, biological, or radiological materials. A CME activity was designed to improve recognition and management of patients exposed to these hazardous materials, and included instructional videos on how to don protective equipment and how to decontaminate a patient. At the end of the year, a full-scale drill involving a hazardous material spill was held. The event brought together multiple agencies to assess the knowledge and use of technology, and provided instant feedback to each group on their ability to don equipment and comply with the decontamination steps they had been taught.
