Education and Resources for CME for ABIM’s MOC Program
We are pleased to release additional resources to support the CME community’s engagement with CME that Counts for ABIM’s MOC program.
Archived Webinar: A recording of the October 14 webinar “CME That Counts for ABIM MOC” is available here. Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, President and CEO, ACCME, discusses the ACCME’s collaboration with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to simplify the integration of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and accredited CME. The webinar also includes a demonstration of how to register CME activities for ABIM’s MOC program in the ACCME Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS), as well as a question and answer session with ACCME staff.
We appreciate the CME community’s high level of engagement—the webinar drew participants from more than 670 individual sites. The webinar included an interactive poll; about 275 participants responded to each question. Ninety-five percent of respondents said that they had either already discussed or planned to discuss the new opportunity with their organization’s leadership. Thirty-six percent of respondents said the process for registering CME activities for ABIM’s MOC program seemed “very easy and clear,” and an additional 61 percent said it seemed “somewhat clear.” As for plans to register CME activities for ABIM’s MOC program, 33 percent of respondents expect to begin registering CME activities for ABIM’s MOC program before the end of the year, while another 45 percent expect to do so in the first quarter of 2016.
CME\MOC Badge: The CME\MOC badge and guidelines for its usage are now available here. Along with the ABIM MOC Recognition Statement, accredited providers are welcome to use this badge to identify CME activities that are registered for ABIM MOC points. Use of the badge is optional. ABIM and the ACCME created the badge to support accredited providers’ efforts to promote their CME activities that count for MOC.
Improved—Find a CME+ABIM MOC Activity List: The list of CME activities registered for ABIM’s MOC program is now available in a web-based format, as well as in the Excel spreadsheet published in September. The list includes information about more than 300 currently available CME activities registered for ABIM’s MOC program. (Please note this list only includes activities that are currently available and does not include activities that have already occurred.) The functionality of the web-based list allows viewers to choose to see all the activities or view activities by specialty. We have created a short URL, which you can share with physicians so they can easily access the list: www.accme.org/MOClist
