Tri-State Conference Focuses on CME Provider Best Practices
The inaugural 2015 Tri-State CME Providers Conference, hosted by the Indiana University School of Medicine, included a keynote address by Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, President and CEO, ACCME. The meeting brought together CME providers from Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, to explore best practices and innovative approaches to education. Dr. McMahon described the scope of accredited CME offered by the conference participants and the value of CME in supporting public health. He discussed how accredited CME reflects the changing healthcare environment and supports interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) and team-based care through Joint Accreditation For Interprofessional Continuing Education™. He emphasized the importance of meeting learners’ needs by aligning the requirements of continuing professional development systems, citing as an example the collaboration between the ACCME and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), which facilitates the integration of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and CME. Steve Singer, PhD, Vice President for Education and Outreach, ACCME, also participated in the conference. View the conference tweets at #TSCME15.
