ACCME Board of Directors’ Decisions and Discussions

The ACCME has released the executive summary of its Board of Directors meeting, held December 2-3, 2015, at its Chicago offices. The ACCME ratified 47 accreditation and reaccreditation decisions. These included 19 providers that received Accreditation with Commendation (40%), which confers a 6-year term of accreditation. The Board also ratified decisions for providers applying for Joint Accreditation For Interprofessional Continuing Education™. With these decisions, there are currently 26 jointly accredited providers. There are 19 more jointly accredited providers in the application process with decisions expected in 2016. The Find a CME Provider webpage has been updated to reflect the December 2015 accreditation decisions.

The Board of Directors convened discussions with the leadership of CME advocacy organizations and ACCME member organization liaisons to discuss promoting the value of accredited CME and interprofessional continuing education (IPCE), the biggest issues facing the CE community, and how the ACCME can contribute to addressing those challenges. Representatives from the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, the Council of Medical Specialty Societies CPD Component Group, the National Association of Medical Education Companies, and the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education joined the discussion.
