Sandy Deeba and Joyce Fried Recognized for Volunteer Service on ARC

The ACCME is only successful in its mission because of its dedicated volunteers and we were pleased to have the opportunity to pay tribute to two of these volunteers at the October meeting of the Accreditation Review Committee (ARC). Sandy Deeba, CME Manager, Oklahoma State Medical Society; and Joyce Fried, BA, CCME-P, Assistant Dean, Co-Director, CME, University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine, received service awards upon the completion of their six-year terms of service. Ms. Deeba and Ms. Fried were celebrated by their ARC colleagues and ACCME staff for their dedication and contributions to accreditation decision making. They offered the following comments about their time on the ARC:

  • “The time I have spent with each of you has given me an opportunity to meet other professionals from all over the United States who are devoted to CME and have a true talent and interest in serving the ACCME. In the past six years we have seen growth in our thinking and willingness to persevere no matter what it takes. As I end my time on the ARC, I will take my memories with each of you and tuck them in my heart and remember that this was one of the best times of my career.” — Sandy Deeba
  • “Although it was a lot of work, participating as a member of the ARC was among the most gratifying experiences of my career. The opportunity to work side by side with really smart colleagues with the common goal of supporting high quality continuing medical education was a privilege. The wonderful leadership and staff of the ACCME provided inspiration, motivation, and a fair and thoughtful approach to the evaluation process. I was only sorry to see the six years end!” — Joyce Fried
