CME Provider Conferences Discuss Strategic Value of CME
The ACCME participated in the following CME provider conferences during the past few months. The participation is part of the ongoing support we provide for the intrastate accreditation system and for Recognized Accreditors (state/territory medical societies recognized by the ACCME as accreditors of local CME providers).
- 28th Annual CME Planners’ and Surveyors’ Workshop, Illinois State Medical Society
- Monthly provider meeting via conference call, Mississippi State Medical Association
- CME Provider Symposium & Coordinator’s Exchange, Ohio State Medical Association
- 2015 OMA Provider Summit, Oregon Medical Association
At the events, ACCME presenters described the scope of the ACCME accreditation system nationally and in individual states, exploring how CME contributes to public health initiatives. They explained how accredited CME meets learners’ needs and reflects the changing healthcare environment, for example through the ACCME’s collaboration with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to simplify the integration of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and CME. ACCME staff and participants reviewed the recommendations for advancing CME in "Continuing Medical Education as a Strategic Resource," a report published by the American Hospital Association's Physician Leadership Forum, and discussed the importance of offering physicians and teams opportunities for relevant, participatory, and active learning.
