Fostering Alignment Across the Medical Education Continuum
Murray Kopelow, MD, President and CEO, ACCME, participated in a meeting of the Professional Development and Education Workgroup for Advancing Training in the Clinical Learning Environment, held in June in Cambridge, MA. The meeting was convened by the Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) program of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and was hosted by the Institute for Health Care Improvement. The event brought together stakeholders to discuss faculty and leadership development within the context of the CLER program and to identify ways to align initiatives and resources across the medical education continuum. Dr. Kopelow discussed how CME can contribute strategic support to the CLER program. He participated in the meeting as part of the ACCME’s ongoing collaboration with colleague accreditors across the continuum and in support of a more aligned system of physician accountability.
