Updates and Deadlines for CME that Counts for MOC

American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA): Learner completion data for CME that Counts for ABA MOCA should be submitted to PARS by December 31, 2018. Additionally, accredited providers may now choose “other” as the activity type for activities registered for American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) MOCA. “Other” can be chosen for activities that involve blended, new, or other approaches that do not fall into one of the established format categories.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM): Learner completion data for CME that Counts for ABIM MOC should be submitted to PARS by December 31, 2018. Furthermore, ABIM Board Certified physicians need to earn 100 MOC points every five years to remain certified. The end of 2018 marks the first five-year deadline since the implementation of ABIM’s continuous MOC program. Many of your learners will need to earn 100 MOC points by December 31, 2018 to avoid a change in certification status. Click here to learn how you can help ABIM Board Certified physicians meet their five-year MOC point requirements.

American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO): We are pleased to announce a new collaboration with the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) to expand opportunities for ABO-Certified ophthalmologists to earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit for participating in accredited continuing medical education (CME) activities that meet ABO MOC requirements. American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS): We’re pleased to let you know that the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) is now open for the submission of ABOHNS learner completion data. Learner data submission methods include using the web form, batch upload, and web services. Accredited providers are required to submit learner completion data via PARS for each activity registered as meeting ABOHNS requirements. Learner completion data will need to be submitted by December 31, 2018 for activities completed this year.

American Board of Pathology (ABPath): Learner completion data for CME that Counts for ABPath Continuing Certification should be submitted to PARS by December 31, 2018.   

American Board of Pediatrics (ABP): American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) published an updated version of the ABP Program Guide. “Other” is now included as an activity type for activities registered for the ABP MOC Part 2 program. “Other” can be chosen for activities that involve blended, new, or other approaches that do not fall into one of the established format categories. Additionally, beginning in 2019, ABP MOC Part 2 points may be earned in differing amounts by the learners and may be reported in quarter hour increments, if appropriate for 2019 activities.
