Promotes Team-based Education: Getting Started with Commendation Criteria 23-25

This tutorial offers educational resources to help providers achieve compliance with Criteria 23-25 in the "Promotes Team-based Education" category of the Menu of Criteria for Accreditation with Commendation.

The commendation criteria in the “Promotes Team-based Education” category reward accredited providers who engage interprofessional teams, patient/public representatives, and/or students of the health professions in planning and delivering continuing education.
 
A Menu of Options: Providers seeking to achieve commendation under ACCME’s Menu of Criteria for Accreditation with Commendation need to meet the expectations of any seven criteria of their choice from the five menu categories plus at least one of the criteria from the “Achieves Outcomes” category. 
 
It’s Optional: As a reminder, as with the existing commendation criteria 16-22, compliance with the menu of criteria for Accreditation with Commendation is optional for CME providers and is not required to achieve Accreditation.

Educational Resources: Promotes Team-based Education
 
In response to providers’ requests, we have developed written FAQ, short videos, and examples of compliance for each of the “Promotes Team-based Education” criteria. These examples describe approaches that would meet the expectations of the criteria; however, they may not include evidence of compliance with the measurement standards for each criterion.
 

Criterion 23: Members of interprofessional teams are engaged in the planning and delivery of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE).

Criterion 24: Patient/public representatives are engaged in the planning and delivery of CME.

Criterion 25: Students of the health professions are engaged in the planning and delivery of CME.
