Accredited providers are responsible for facilitating change in their physician learners. And one of the things that accredited providers can do is recognize why their learners aren’t doing what they’ve been taught; why the learners have not been able to translate their new knowledge, their new competence, into new performance, into new patient outcomes. And to move the educational programs to addressing those barriers and addressing why the physician hasn’t changed. And moving beyond the giving of information and the training of the physicians to empowering the physicians to implement that which they now know, that which they have now taught, so that those physicians can be greater contributors to health care improvement overall.
