When are accredited CME providers expected to implement the change in terminology from “sponsorship” to “providership” in their CME materials?

Published Date:
March 14, 2014

The ACCME expects accredited providers to discontinue the use of the term “sponsor” (e.g., jointly sponsored, joint sponsorship, directly sponsored, direct sponsorship) for new materials published after January 1, 2015. Please note that this change in terminology applies to accreditation statements for directly and jointly provided activities, as well as other materials. The ACCME does not expect accredited providers to change or reprint any materials that were in existence in February 2014, when the changes to simplify the accreditation requirements and processes were adopted.
